The Dominion The Dominion is a monthly paper published by an incipient network of independent journalists in Canada since May 2003. It aims to provide accurate, critical coverage that is accountable to its readers and the subjects it tackles. The Dominion is a project of Canada’s first media cooperative, jointly owned and democratically controlled by its readers, contributors and editors. Taking its name from Canada’s official status as both a colony and a colonial force, the Dominion examines politics, culture and daily life with a view to understanding the exercise of power. The Dominion aims to widen the range of debate by covering stories marginalized, spun, or simply ignored by the mainstream press. As an independent publication relying primarily on reader support rather than advertisers, the Dominion represents a new model of newspaper in Canada, created unambiguously for the public good, rather than for maximizing profit.

We believe in the power of resistance.
